My Boyfriend Barfed in My Handbag

If you are anything like us, you have piles of laundry to do at all times! QuickZip® sheets are made to with stand years of washing--simply machine wash warm and tumble dry low and you can always buy a new zip-on sheet (or two!) if needed.

What to do if you've had one of those nights? You more than likely have some stains that need treating...enter our new best friend Jolie Kerr, author of My Boyfriend Barfed In My Handbag...and Other Things You Can't Ask Martha. Not only is this book written in a hilarious style, it is filled with tips and tricks for cleaning everything from tile and grout to getting nail polish out of your carpet.

According to Kerr, the number one thing to remember with stains is to get to them immediately--even if that means applying a stain treatment and letting it sit for a few days before laundering. Here are some other tips from Kerr for removing stains:

  • With the exception of mud and ink, almost all stains benefit from being flushed with cold water.
  • Kerr loves OxiClean and recommends using it as a paste or soaking agent. She finds that with heavily soiled items it is best to rub the fabric against itself to work the cleaning solution in and the "gunky substances" out.
  • For set in stains Kerr suggests creating a paste with meat tenderizer and water, applying to stain, and letting it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
  • Steer clear of bleach--it will cause protein stains like sweat, blood, and "other fluids" to become more yellow.
