The Curse is Over

Posted by Caroline Portis on

Wow! What a series. So what does QuickZip have to do with the World Series? Well, I'm Caroline Portis, co-founder of QuickZip and I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and Elizabeth Sopher, co-founder, CEO and inventor of QuickZip grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland. I've been a Cubs fan my whole life and I'm pretty much obsessed with them (even though I moved to Denver 22 years ago). Elizabeth is an Indians fan (not obsessed like me, but still a fan).

When the two teams made it to the World Series, I had the idea to have some fun with our "rivalry". I never dreamed that the series would be such an emotional roller coaster.

On a personal note, I have to admit that I've been crying a lot today. My father was born in Chicago in 1915 and he loved his Cubbies. So many vivid memories are coming back today. On September 2nd 1972, we went to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs play the San Diego Padres. Milt Pappas was on the mound - he was throwing a perfect game and with 2 outs in the top of the 9th inning, he walked a batter.  The next batter flied out so Milt got the no-hitter, but missed the perfect game.

I'm certain that there are millions of angels smiling in heaven today. #FlyTheW
